Sophomore Bucket List: Update 2

I get great hours, and love everyone I work with! I also did a workout class. Over the course of the quarter I was in a Pilates class. The instructor was amazing, and I learned so much from it. Cheers to being done with fall quarter!

Florals

dress: Forever 21 | sweater: American Eagle | jacket: Hollister | boots: Nine West

These photos were taken a while ago back on campus, but now I'm back in my hometown for the holidays. I'm finished up with finals, and just waiting to get my grades back. For the meantime I'm just enjoying the time with my family before I head back to school.

Plaid has been my obsession this fall, basically all I look at when I'm shopping or on Pinterest.... It can be dressed up, dressed down, lounge wear... the possibilities are endless!

Signs

Lately I've been struggling with what I want to major in, what I want to do in life. These questions keep me up at night, I scroll through my schools course catalog looking for anything that interests me, keeping an open mind to any major. Today I was getting ready for class opened my computer, checking email briefly, and got a sign. A sign of what direction I should go in, of how to start. One email changed my perspective for the day, and gave me the energy and push I needed to get started, and stop waiting around for that perfect moment that will most likely never come. Here's to signs.
Happy Thursday!

iPhone dump: Quotes 'n things

I have this weird habit, where if I'm on twitter or instagram, even Pinterest, and I see a quote or picture I like, I screen shot it to save it. Usually nothing every becomes of it. But now I'm going to dump all my favorites here, so I don't have a ton of screen shots taking up precious space on my phone. So here's some inspo for your morning.

"If you wake up happy and have a goal set for the day... your day ends up being so damn good."

"Fashion is about dressing according to what's fashionable. Style is more about being yourself -Oscar De La Renta"

"Fall shows us how beautiful it is to let the past go"

"If your head's high, How could life be so low?"

"I am who I am, your approval is not needed"

happy Wednesday!

My Latest Obsession: Fur

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Super obsessed with fur right now. I want jacket number 5 in my closet like yesterday. I also think a fur vest would be the perfect accessory right now. Plaid and fur just go hand in hand to me, and I'm low key obsessed.

Sophmore Bucket List: Update 1

I'm about halfway through Fall quarter now, so I figured it was time for an update post! On my list, was to get a new piercing, and I did, last weekend I went and got my doubles done, I love them, and want to go get another piercing now, I'm kind of on a piercing kick, ha. I also discovered a new restaurant. In UVillage theres a delicious Italian place called Mama Melina's. On Sunday, they have happy hour all day, and the deals are amazing, and the food is amazing. I will definitely be going back!

Life Update

Life has been crazy busy in a good way! I have some posts I'm super excited about but for now here's some pics from my life!

The french toast I had for brunch on Saturday, and let me tell you it was bomb. It's from Portage Bay and is so worth the wait they have on a Saturday morning. It's fantastic. School has been extremely crazy with midterms so I basically live in leggings and cozy socks studying my butt off! And a few outfits I have been loving. I'm pretty much obsessed with fall, so you will be seeing more of them in the near future!

Plaid Dress

dress: pacsun | sweater: hollister | boots: DSW

If you can't tell by the title of this post, I'm kind of obsessed with this dress. It's plaid, red, and very 90s. It's so me and I love it! There's this awesome leaf wall that I discovered on campus the other day, and this outfit was perfect for it. I also discovered those people things that I'm with in one of the last pictures. I think it's an art instillation of some sort.... I was very intrigued by it, and I think they're pretty cute. Also it wouldn't be fall without a pic of me sitting in leaves, so there ya go. I'll "leaf" on that note..

Fall Favorites: Scarves

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

In Washington, October means it's full on fall, and scarves are a must. Walking to and from class, scarves are a perfect way to keep warm, and these fall picks are perfect for looking cute as well. My personal favorite is number 4, and I'm having such a hard time resisting putting it in my shopping cart. Happy Fall y'all!

Fall Style Roundup

October in Seattle means were in full on fall! I love the fall weather and everything it comes with. So here's some of my favorite fall styles courtesy of Pinterest

All Black: All black is so chic, and so easy to incorporate many textures to add interest. All black looks are so easy to put together, but if you NEED color, add a scarf or sweater!

Socks with Sandals: Maybe this is just a look in the PNW, but I love wearing wool socks with my birkenstocks or open toed booties. It keeps your feet warm, and you get to continue wearing your favorite shoes into the fall and winter. The cuter the socks, the better!

Beanies: Beanies not only keep you warm, but add another layer to a fun look. Having these in multiple colors is an awesome way to amp up any outfit.

Oversized Sweaters: The easiest outfit formula in the fall is an oversized sweater and jeans or leggings with boots. I own a bazillion sweaters and wear them on repeat with a scarf and vest in the fall. So easy and so cute.

Rings and more Rings: I love having a part of rings on my hands. They add a little touch to any outfit, and I love love the little touches people add to outfits to kick them up a notch.

I hope these give you some fun ideas for fall! Bring on the sweaters, socks and warm drinks!

Must have apps for a college freshman

Going into college is a stressful and new time for everyone. Now that freshman year is in full swing for everyone, I thought I'd share my favor apps!

1. Your schools app
My schools app most helpful feature is the campus map with gps that will tell you exactly where to go from your current location if you happen to be lost. Other features include a course catalog, eataries arround campus and library information.

2. Bank app
Stereotypical broke college student. Keeping an eye on your finances is important. Is that new pair of shoes really in your budget? (I just bookmark my banks home page on Safari)

3. Genius scan
This is an app I heard about from a friend and use all the time. You take a picture and turns it into a scanned copy on your phone. I use this to scan in tests so I can study from them later and send to other classmates to study from too.

4. Pandora/spotify
I personally have both on my phone. I listen to music walking to class, studying in the library or in my dorm, when I'm in the shower, and pretty much all the time.

5. Instagram
What better way to share you pictures of college with your friends and family than Instagram. It's my favorite form of social media.

6. A mind numbing game to play while bored or taking a study break
My personal recommendations are Candy Crush and 2048.

7. Evil apples
A super fun way to get to know your roommate and people on your floor. This is the Cards against Humanity app.

8. Google maps + one bus away
Going away to school means your in a new town. These are my favorite ways to figure out where your going and what bus to take to get where your going.

Fall Favorites: Leather

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

Leather is such a fall staple, and can be worn in so many ways. Leather jackets are always a classic, and if full leather isn't your thing, a leather sleeved jacket is an alternative, to still get that punch of leather. Leather leggings, can be worn dressed up or down, same with a leather skirt. My favorite is probably the leather shoulder patches. A little bit of leather on a cozy sweater gives it edge. I can't wait to wear my leather pieces this fall!

Lucky Brand Haul

Recently I was introduced to this brand, and absolutely love it. This brand is a little bit pricier but they were having an amazing sale, and I couldn't not stock up on basics. Here's what I bought.

1 | 2 | 3

I bought these 2 pairs of jeans, and this gorgeous red sweater. I featured the distressed jeans in my destroyed denim post. I wore them to the first day of classes, and they are a dream--super comfortable, and keep their shape. Currently wearing the gorgeous red sweater, so comfortable, I'll definitely be wearing it all season long. These are all perfect fall staples, and know they will got lots of wear all season.

Fall Favorites: Plaid

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

I live in flannels and plaid year round, but they are especially a staple for fall. Paired with a beanie, jeans, and a pair of combat boots is a perfect fall outfit, and especially a great one for college students. Put together, but casual and comfy. My collection of plaid shirts is growing, and a few on this list might be making their way into my closet very soon.

Technology and Self-Expresssion

I found an article the other day while scrolling through one of the many forms of social media I partake in, and found an article about the new Apple watch. In this article (link) they talked about how this watch will shape the future of fashion, and being an avid fashion lover and working in a clothing store, I found this article very interesting, it is a short read, but here are my thoughts...

The apple watch claims to be customizable but "the Apple Watch comes in only three near-identical face styles and half a dozen band-types..." Apple has a huge social imprint, and if these Apple watches take off, everyone is wearing virtually the same thing, and your ability to portray your style is diminished.

"The watch is no doubt an indication of how Apple will approach future fashion products, offering the masses a constrictive framework in which to dress themselves, all under the guise of customizable “self expression.”" Under this guise, Apple could single handedly change the face of fashion from a form of self expression to a system where you choose A, B, or C, and the choice you make is "self expression." No longer is style something you choose, but something the framework of society chooses for you.

While this idea of Apple taking over fashion is a long ways away, this could happen, and it's important to be able to see it coming. The article ended with this: "The more Apple invades the fashion market, the more it will look to create a robotic consumerist culture (something it’s already done with tech)—in turn manipulating the greatest enjoyments of style and personal expression." I personally love Apple products, I own an iPhone and a MacBook, but when does the Apple monopoly end. At computers and phones, or fashion? I express myself through clothes, I work in the retail industry, and I pride myself in my unique sense of style, which I don't want to be taken away from me.

Kind of a random post for this space, but this struck a chord with me, and maybe it will impact you too :)

Fall Favorites: Destroyed Denim

1 | 2 | 3 | 4

For fall, I'm loving destroyed denim. Something about the grunge-y-ness of it all screams fall. Pair these jeans with moto boots, a slouchy sweater or flannel, and you have an awesome fall look. I just bought the first pair from Lucky Brand, and I'm so in love! Maybe they will make an appearance in an outfit post sometime soon. I'm making Fall Favorites a weekly thing throughout the end of October, so keep checking back in, for my fall staples.

Dorm Room DIY

In my latest post I showed my dorm room, and it had craft projects I had made to decorate it. Today, I'm going to share a little bit about my process.

The Delta Delta Delta canvas I painted a dark purple, after that dried I painted a white wash over it (watered down white paint). I then made a delta stencil, painted them silver, and free-handed the words underneath. This took me about 2 day with drying time etc.

The stand up letters seen on the book shelf in black and white are cardboard letters found at the craft store and then wrapped in wash tape. This took me about 1 day. Anyone can do these, they are so easy, even if you aren't crafty at all!

These next 3 projects are for those that are a little more crafty! For the Seattle Skyline canvas I used the same purple paint I had used for the Delta Delta Delta canvas and painted that, let it get tacky, then used a brush with just water to brush over and create a water color gradient. Just play with it until you get it how you like! After that dried I free-handed a skyline in black.

The two letters with skyline on them are wood letters I painted with 2 coats of black, and then free-handed the skyline, and painted with 2 coats of silver paint. a little more artistic talent is needed for these, but only took me a few days to complete with drying time!

The last project I made for my room was the black and white prints I attached to christmas lights with clothes pins I painted black.

This project was the easiest but most time consuming of all of them! All I did was collect the photos I wanted to print, then in iPhoto, cropped them to squares, turned them black and white, and adjusted brightness and contrast until I loved how they looked, then printed. It was super easy, and I printed about 50 pictures to decorate with.

I hope this post gives you some ideas to decorate your room, or inspires you to just get a little crafty!

Room Tour

So I know it's been a while... but Recruitment for my sorority is over and I'm back and am going to try to stay back! I moved into my room at my sorority about 2 weeks ago and it got decorated super cute for recruitment, and I got some pictures for you all.

My room is pretty small, and it's a double, but I love it, and it really has everything I could need. These pictures are from when it was staged during recruitment, and it looks nothing like this now (I'm definitely a very messy person!). Just a little peak into my college life so far. I'm hoping to share lots more soon! Also a peak into the decorations in a future post!
